The audiobook is narrated by one of my favourite narrators, Aysha Kala, who has also narrated books by Alice Osman and Sabaa Tahir amongst others. It is beautifully written and one of my favourite books. If this book appeals to you then I also recommend you check out The God of Small Things, which is a previous Man Booker Prize winner. I would recommend that anyone who looks for trigger warnings to check reader reviews carefully as the novel touches on many difficult subjects. However, the narration is meant to be excellent and Brid Brennan’s Northern Irish accent is marvellous to listen to. This will be a more challenging read/listen than any of my other picks, as you would expect from a Man Booker Prize winning piece of literary fiction. Milkman is Anna Burn’s Man Booker Prize winning novel, which explores the troubles of Northern Ireland in the 70s-80s from the perspective of an 18 year-old girl.
